The results of the Raging Bull Awards were made public last night. Hosted by Personal Finance in conjunction with partners ProfileData and PlexCrown Fund Ratings, these awards congratulate the top performers to December 2016 across a range of sectors and acknowledge investment managers in terms of top outright performers, best risk-adjusted performers and the best unit trust management companies.
We are honoured to have been recognised at the awards, which for us is testimony to our focus on creating long-term wealth for our clients. We are extremely grateful for advisers and investors’ continued trust and confidence.
Domestic Management Company of the Year
We were pleased to accept the Raging Bull Award for the Domestic Management Company of the Year. This award recognises the South African-domiciled management company with the best overall performance across sector consisting of a suite of five or more rand-denominated funds with at least three years’ history.
Other achievements
We also received some individual fund awards and certificates which acknowledge our and Orbis’ investment teams’ performance as measured on a relative and risk-adjusted basis:
- Certificate for top performance by a domestic collective investment scheme in the South African Multi-Asset Low-Equity category (3-year period): Allan Gray Optimal Fund
- Certificate for top performance by a domestic collective investment scheme in the South African-Domiciled Global Multi-Asset High Equity category (3-yer period): Allan Gray-Orbis Global Fund of Funds
- Certificate for top performance on the basis of risk-adjusted returns by a domestic collective investment scheme in the South African-Domiciled Global Multi-Asset High Equity category (5-year period): Allan Gray-Orbis Global Fund of Funds
We are grateful for awards but winning them is not our focus. We always say that past performance is not necessarily a guide for the future, and investment decisions should be based on thorough research, not only on award winners.
